Jr. PAWS: Parents Assisting With Safety
What Does Being a Parent On Campus Volunteer Involve?
Our Jr. PAWSs program welcomes volunteers to help monitor the playground during lunch. This is a positive support program not an enforcement program. Parents are there to encourage and model an appropriate and civil environment, to give students friendly reminders of school rules and to reinforce positive behavior by giving compliments when we "catch them doing something right."
What is the Purpose of Jr. PAWS?
Jr. PAWS provides parents the opportunity to come together to create a positive daily presence during lunch recess. This presence provides teachers and administrators with another set of eyes and the students with a valuable link to a community that says "we care". We strive to develop a sense of community in the school that says everyone is safe and cared for by everyone and to instill that we are a part of a larger community that everyone is responsible for keeping safe.
The time is 12:05 - 1:05 Monday - Friday
Please allow a few extra minutes to go in the office and get a vest, a badge, and a clipboard. These are located in the cabinet in the front office. Proceed out to the playground.
Thank you for giving your times to this important program.
