Open House – Tonight – 8:00

We would like to invite everyone to come to Open House next Wednesday.  All of our classrooms will be open for you to see the fantastic work our students have been producing this year.  Our PTC, Eureka Schools Foundation, and other organizations will be on hand to provide information about their programs.  In addition, our Spartan Jazz Band will be performing on the outdoor stage throughout the evening.  We look forward to seeing you!

Dine Out with Daphne’s – the day of Open House!

Attached is a Fundraiser Flyer that can be redeemed at Daphne’s restaurant throughout the day of Open House.  They will donate 20% of your purchase to the Olympus PTC.  We all know that it is a busy night, so maybe it will be a great night to eat out – and help the school!

ESF Fund Run – Sunday May 20

Sunday, May 20th is right around the corner which means it is time for the 4th Annual ESF Fund Run! We have added a 10k run NEW this year, and more FREE games and crafts to the Expo. This is sure to be a great event for the entire family. Olympus students participating in the Fund Run will receive credit for a run in their PE class (check with the PE teacher for specific details).  We encourage our students to wear their Spartan Colors for the race!

Volunteers Needed!

We are desperate!  The 4th Annual Fund Run is set for this Sunday and we are seriously low on volunteers.  If you've already registered to run, walk, sponsor or volunteer - THANK YOU!  If not, now's your last chance.

WE NEED:

Volunteers - It's just a 2-hour shift! Whatever is holding you back - too early, too hot, don't like kids? - I can fix it.

We need (7) more people to man the kids' crafts and games in the Expo 7:30 - 9:30am.

We need (5) more people to man the kids' crafts and games in the Expo 9:30 - 11:30am.

We need (11) more people to work on the course 8 - 10am and just make sure no one gets run over by a car.  While you're there, you can cheer on the runners and keep them going in the right direction.  It's easy, fun and, trust me, can be done in pj's with coffee in hand. IF YOU ARE WILLING TO VOLUNTEER, please email Britt Redfield at  (britt.s.redfield@bankofamerica.com)

Annual EUSD Parent Survey

The Eureka Union School District invites you to participate in our Annual District Parent Survey.

The survey can be completed online. Just go to the Eureka District Web Site at: www.eurekausd.org  Click on the link for the "Parent Survey" and follow the simple instructions.

The survey will be open from Monday, May 14th through Friday, June 1st. We encourage every family to participate in taking the survey. The data generated by the survey will be used by district staff and school site councils to set goals for the future of our district and schools. Our district appreciates your input and thanks you for participating.

21st Century Expo – May 21st

On Monday, May 21st, the Eureka Union School District will hold a 21st Century Expo to showcase the district’s Challenge 21 program.  Please see the attached flyer for all of the details.  There will also be an informational meeting for the new Project Lead the Way (PTLW) program being offered at our Jr. High schools next year.

Through our Challenge 21 program, we provide students with a dynamic education that focuses on vital 21st century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and character development.  Our classrooms provide a distinctive learning environment utilizing the latest educational technology tools, and our students are provided with meaningful, authentic opportunities to apply these important skills.

2nd Annual GBHS Grizzly Parent Retreat

Attached are two documents announcing the 2nd Annual Grizzly Parent Retreat.  It is a great opportunity for parents to get to know the “nuts and bolts” of how Granite Bay High School operates.

Donate Old Sports Equipment for Student Project

Students from Ms. Parmesano’s 8th Grade Core class will be collecting gently used sports equipment from May 21st to May 31st.  The equipment will be then donated to children in need.  Collection boxes will be placed in the PE locker rooms and in the Multi-Purpose room.  Please help donate to this worthy cause!  Thank you for your consideration. – Ms. Parmesano’s Core Students

TOPSoccer

The national US Youth Soccer organization is teaming up with the Placer Youth Soccer League and its clubs to bring a unique soccer program to this region. The program, called TOPSoccer, is designed to meet the needs of children with physical and/or other special needs. It targets those kids ages 4-18 who would like to play soccer, but are challenged by the traditional soccer environment, including those kids with physical supports and wheelchairs.

TOPSoccer is a community-based, outreach soccer program that is run by local volunteers. Player participation and development are key elements of the program, as players are placed on teams according to ability and NOT by age.  The program is designed to provide a fun and meaningful experience for the family, while also improving the overall fitness, self-esteem and social skills of the child athlete in a safe and caring environment. The program will also provide parents the opportunity to network with other families for support and information sharing.

There will be a free TOPSoccer play date on May 19th at the Douglas Ranch Park in Granite Bay. This will provide an opportunity for local families to experience and become familiar with the program and meet the coaches and other volunteers. TOPSoccer is also seeking adult and teenage volunteers to serve as coaches and player buddies.  To see a TOPSoccer video, click here.

A parent flyer and registration forms for the event on the 19th are available on the Placer TOPSoccer website: http://www.eteamz.com/pysltopsoccer/files/TopSoccerFlier.pdf
